A friendly reminder for an overdue update

You know it has been too long since your last blog post when your domain expires and a friend has to IM you to let you know about it ;)
As expected, January was an incredibly busy month. I take that back, it was busier than expected. Driving half way across the country, through windy valleys and snowy mountain passes is definitely an experience.
The first day of driving was tough. North Dakota and eastern Montana are quite simply painful. The second day was much more fun. Beautiful scenery and animals everywhere. Seriously, we actually saw deer and antelope playing. We arrived tired and safe on December 23.
Lesson learned - mountains take longer than Google Maps thinks. We seriously underestimated the amount of time it would take. I'm not used to having to factor in extra time for driving up and over mountains. So, while we had initially broken the trip in to two 12 hour days, it actually ended up taking 13.5 hours the first day and a whopping 16.5 hours the second!
